The PTA Parent Liaison role was established to bridge the connection between the PTA, Freedom families and the Teachers/Staff. The purpose of this role is to show appreciation and provide support when needed.
Game Club
Two chairs are needed to organize after school Game Club activities. Game Club runs 1 hour a week for 4-6 weeks, twice a year, or however you would like to set it up. In the past there has been one session for grades 3-5 and a second for grades 1-2. One session took place in the fall and the other in the spring. The kids play board games provided by the PTA. The chair also shops for a snack (goldfish, pretzels, etc.) and water is served as the club takes place in the media center. Two or three more parent volunteers are utilized to set up, monitor students, and clean up.
Bingo Committee
The BINGO committee plans one of our largest fundraisers of the year. They plan a fantastic evening of BINGO for Freedom families. Responsibilities include finding sponsors for gifts, arranging prize baskets, selling tickets to families, setting up the venue, and selling concessions.
Before & After School Care Review Board
Two chairs are needed for this committee. A survey will be out to the parents of students currently enrolled in the before & after care program at Freedom. The results will be compiled and shared with Administration and the PTA. Other aftercare programs are able to present their programs. A decision based on findings will determine which program will provide care at Freedom. This evaluation happens every two years. This position can be done from home
Hoffy Mascot & Handlers
We are looking for volunteers to work with our Mascot Hoffy. Handlers walk with Hoffy, help him navigate, and talk for him to the kids. Currently we do not have many volunteers for this. We would love to have a pool of volunteers. We are also looking for volunteers that would be willing to dress as our school mascot. These volunteers get the fun job! We would like some parents that are available mostly during the day. Hoffy usually makes an appearance for 15-20 minutes at the most. Come on, give it a try and scratch it off you bucket list to be a mascot! The smiles on the kids’ faces are so worth it!
Reconciliation Committee
Committee will meet in August. Consisting of 3 PTA members not to be associated with the board. You would be responsible for reviewing all financial transactions to ensure that expenditures are properly documented and conform with the approved budget and the PTA's governing documents, and bank records.
The Teacher/Staff Appreciation, Treat Train Committee
The Teacher Appreciation Committee is a group of parents and caregivers committed to showing our teachers and staff that we recognize their contributions and dedication to our students. The committee honors our teacher’s once a month with a “teacher treat train”, and also special attention during Teacher Appreciation Week.
PTA Bulletin Board
Seasonal/ monthly position to design and update the PTA bulletin board. Let your imagination soar!
Handwriting Helpers
The position helps students improve sensory input and strengthen the muscle needed for handwriting. This position will meet after school on chosen days and times.
Teacher Luncheons
Requires planning, organizing, and helping set up/serve/clean up during teacher luncheons.
Paint Night
Requires planning and organizing an opportunity for students and parents to have a social outing with friends while creating a painting from start to finish.
Back to School Kits
At home position to locate or continue with current company to provide “back to school kits” based off supply lists by grade. Position requires supply lists to be submitted to the company, login to the portal to verify lists are correct. Create and disburse flyers. Sales end the middle of June for August delivery to students homes.
IT Committee
Update the PTA website and social media accounts with the latest event and other pertinent information, manage REMIND app and facilitate virtual meetings. IT or graphic design experience a plus.
Veterans Day Program
Veterans Day is an excellent occasion for schools, parents, and local communities to honor our Veterans. Chair is responsible for planning and creating an agenda. Working with cub scout pack 417, schools chorus, instrumentals, and administration.
Support Staff Appreciation
Coordinate the appreciation days for those who contribute to our school’s success in support roles, including: bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, and such. This position will also include expressing congratulations, sympathy, or concern in the event of illness, bereavement etc.
Spirit Nights/Days
Coordinate with local restaurants, Buppert’s, Players, Stratosphere, and Krispy Kreme to plan fundraising nights/months which generate business for the establishment as well as raise money for the school’s PTA.
Fun Run
Freedom Elementary’s biggest fundraiser. The Fun Run takes place in the Fall and requires two chairs. Responsibilities include working with the “get movin’s fund hub” online donation collections, collecting checks and cash from the mailbox, scheduling, balloon arch purchasing and making banners for each group. Securing and delivering T-shirts and/or prizes.
Environmental Club
A group of concerned students, teachers and volunteers who are committed to raising awareness about environmental issues and to reducing environmental impact as individuals, a school community, and as citizens of the world.
Yearbook Committee
The yearbook chair designs and organizes the yearbook. The cover is chosen (with help from the 5th grade class). The chair/committee work to design all of the interior of the book, coordinate with candid photographers, collect check payments, and enter these orders into the website. The committee will distribute the yearbook after arrival. One or two committee members are needed as well to assist the chair with the various tasks listed above.
Dance Committee
A Chair & Committee is needed for the school dances. Chairs for this committee would work with Administration via email to secure a date. They would form a committee with other parents. T The committee would make initial arrangements for the dance - choose date and time, get approved by Administration and book DJ, decide on theme, food/snacks, price of ticket and max attendee number, and make flyer and distribute to students in the school. On the day of the dance, committee usually sets up beforehand and takes down decorations afterwards.
Membership
Prefer Excel experience. This position is done from home. The busiest time is the beginning of the year with a few stragglers. Responsible for record keeping of the names of the member and their children (name/grade/homeroom teacher) how the individual paid (square/cash/check), Type of membership (family/individual/teacher), and what their interests/talents are.
Playday
Help gym teachers plan and execute an outdoor play day. Coordinate stations of play activities. Help prepare a group rotation schedule of play stations. Provide information (date, theme, volunteer information, etc.) to PTA for SWAY and social media. Communicate play station assignments for each class. Work with Gym teachers and parent liaisons to collect and compile volunteer names from sign-up sheets. Prepare volunteer shift times and communicate those to the Parent Liaisons/ volunteers. Purchase items needed for play stations as needed. This position will also require the planning, purchasing, and serving lunch for the volunteers.
BoxTops/Coke Caps/Amazon Smile/CertifiKid
Collects, enters (if required), and manages passive fundraisers.
Stem Fair
Members will participate in the research, planning and execution of the school’s annual STEM Fair. Time commitment and duties will vary depending on the size of the committee. The committee will be led by 1-2 chairs who will guide the process.
