As our community continues to feel the effects of the federal government shutdown, we know that some households are facing real and immediate strain. These moments can feel heavy, and asking for help isn’t always easy.
At Freedom, we take care of each other. It’s one of the things that makes this school such a special place.
In response to the current needs we are hearing, the PTA is launching the Hoffy Heroes Campaign, a confidential support initiative to provide grocery and essential-needs gift cards to Freedom families experiencing hardship.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity from this year’s Fun Run, the PTA has the flexibility to extend that same spirit of support to families who need it most right now.
Between now and Monday, November 16, 2025, the PTA will match any and all donations—up to $5,000—to assist Freedom families in need. Donations received beyond that date will still go directly toward gift cards for Freedom families in need of support.
How does the process work for families who need support right now?
Please note that students who qualify for free and reduced meals will continue to receive those meals regardless of the federal shutdown. Families experiencing income loss are encouraged to apply for meal benefits; information on how to apply can be found here:

- All request form submissions are handled confidentially by one designated PTA officer.
- No explanation or documentation is required.
- Families may choose delivery or pick-up when completing the request form.
- Gift cards are provided discreetly and with compassion.
