Patricia (Patty) Martin
President

My name is Patricia (Patty) Martin. I am the proud parent of Ava, who is advancing to 6th grade next year, and Chase, who will be advancing to 3rd grade. Our family has been a part of the Freedom Elementary family since 2019. I have volunteered in many ways- from the classroom to various school activities, my goal has always been to play an active role in my children’s education.

I have been actively involved with the PTA for the last 2 years. Prior to that, I attended as many virtual meetings as I was able. My past and current participation have included the following roles: Chair and Co-Chair of the Bingo Committee, Chair of the Holiday Gift Drive, member of the Dance Committee, Coordinator of the Trex Recycling Program & Teacher Appreciation Chair. I have also volunteered for roles during Play Day.
My motivation for taking on this role is to carry on as best I can the legacy of a supportive PTA. One that supports both its body of students, as well as our amazing faculty. I am passionate about our community and believe in the power of collaboration between parents, teachers and staff. As PTA President, I would work closely with the entire PTA team to organize events, support fundraising efforts and ensure that every family feels welcomed and heard. To help create opportunities that support our children’s growth and success.

In my daily life, I consider myself a stay-at-home mom. I am, however, employed part time, and manage a staff of 16 high school age individuals. My role at work requires strong leadership, organization and people skills. I am accustomed to leading and motivating a diverse team, delegating tasks and resolving conflict, which will aid me in the role of PTA President.
There are so many things to love about Freedom Elementary. From the top-notch staff to the families who care so deeply about advocating for their children’s future. We have truly found a home here and my wish is for every Freedom family to feel the love and joy we have felt in the last 6 years.

I hope you’ll consider supporting me for PTA President. I look forward to collaborating with you all and supporting our dedicated staff and students in building a strong, engaging and successful school year.

Ashley Schall
Vice President

My name is Ashley Schall, and both of my sons are Freedom students — Gus is the class of 2025, and Wilson will be in second grade in the Fall. I’ve been a PTA member since 2019 and have been the PTA Yearbook Chair since then (an annual project very near and dear to my heart!), which includes photographing school events, designing and producing the yearbook, overseeing sales, and handling distribution at the end of every year.

I worked in Marketing and Public Relations for many years, with a focus on fundraising and event planning, as well as corporate communications. I’ve worked part-time at Freedom since 2019, first as a lunchroom assistant, and now as a substitute. I’ve volunteered as a Battle of the Books Coach for the last two years, and have been a regular classroom volunteer since 2019 — most recently working with small groups in fifth grade every week. Between being a Freedom parent, and staff member, I’ve been able to get to know teachers, staff, and the administrators very well, and I really enjoy my time spent in the school. It’s been extremely rewarding to get to see so many Freedom students grow and mature over the years.

My family has been very fortunate to see Freedom’s PTA accomplish great things since my oldest started there in Kindergarten, and I look forward to supporting our students, families, and staff as a member of the Executive Board.

Angela Hardester
Vice President II

My name is Angela Hardester and I currently have two kiddos at Freedom Elementary. Our youngest son is entering the third grade next year and our middle is entering the fifth. Our oldest son is a Freedom alum and is currently finishing his seventh grade year at ORMS.
I have been a member of our PTA since our family first Joined the Freedom family after moving to Carroll County in 2021.

I have worked for an event planner for what feels like forever and before that my background was in childcare. My educational background is in business administration which is nearly not as fun as my occupational background.

The only thing I love more than making a list is bringing people together. Our parents are a vital resource and the reason the PTA is what it is today. I believe that our staff should be appreciated, and our children should be celebrated. Thanks to our current board members-they are just that!

My favorite thing about Freedom is the unwavering sense of family. We moved to Carroll County just as the kids were re-entering schools after Covid . New hometown, new school, new friends-my mama heart was nervous. That didn’t last long after meeting the community at our sweet little Freedom. While Freedom isn’t so little anymore and the numbers seem to grow by the day, the sweet part is just as fitting as it was the day we filled out those enrollment papers. The boys felt so welcomed by their Freedom family and so did we. I’m proud to be a parent at Freedom and I’d be honored to serve on our PTA board.

I appreciate your time and consideration. No matter who is chosen to fill this role, I just know we will continue to excel. That’s the Freedom Elementary way!

What about the Treasurer and Secretary?

The amazing news is that the current Treasurer (Christina Shaffer) and current Secretary (Anne Macgregor-Das) will begin the second year of their two-year term in the 2025-2026 school year. With plenty of support from Immediate Past President (Caitlin Christ) and Immediate Past Vice President (Beth Currence), they will capably guide our new team through a transition and first year on the Executive Board!
