Volunteer Needs &
    Volunteer Committees

There are many volunteer opportunities with the PTA. You can support Freedom's PTA by helping us with our current volunteer needs or by joining one of our committees.

Below you will find current volunteer needs and the descriptions of our various PTA Volunteer Committees. If you are interested in serving on any one of these committees, please feel free to email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner. We welcome your assistance! (Please remember, the county's volunteer training program is required.)

Current Volunteer Needs:Up to Top

Volunteers are currently needed for the following events/committees:
Would you like to be part of the team?
If you would like to get involved and be part of a great group of dedicated parents, please email
Amy Daise or Silke Elsner. We always love new volunteers. Even if we might not have something right now that suits you, we will keep you in the loop.

  • Teacher Luncheon - Tuesday, August 24 @ noon
    Volunteer Donations Needed

It's almost time for the teachers to go back to school. The PTA would like to welcome them back with a luncheon. We need donations of: Salads, Main Dishes, Sides, Desserts and Drinks (soda cans or bottles of water). If you would like to donate you can drop it off at the school on the 24th before noon. Drinks can be dropped off at school any time. If it is a food item, a disposable container is most appreciated. Thank you for your support!

  • Cultural Programs Chairperson: Every school year the PTA organizes two or three cultural programs for the kids. The current chairperson is looking for a partner this year who will then be able to take over next year. The cultural programs chairperson picks and coordinates the events. This work is mostly done from home with occasional short meetings with the school administration. If you are interested, please email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner.

  • Labels for Education Chairperson: The school’s parents collect labels from food items like Campbell’s Soup, Pepperidge Farm products, etc. and drop them off at school. The chairperson collects them all, submits them to the company and selects and orders the rewards together with the school. This work is done mostly at home at your own time schedule. If you are interested, please email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner.

  • Hershey Park Chairperson: In spring the Freedom PTA organizes a big group order of Hershey Park tickets for discount prices. The chairperson collects all the orders and money, submits the order to Hershey Park and distributes the tickets back to the parents. This work is mostly done at home over a time period of one or two months in spring; it involves the handling of large amount of money (about $20,000). If you are interested, please email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner.

  • Workroom Chairperson: If you have volunteered in your child’s classroom you know that the workroom/copyroom is stocked with glue sticks, scissors, post-its and so on. These supplies are a courtesy of the PTA. We need somebody who is in school on a regular basis and can check up on these supplies and replenish them as needed. If you are interested, please email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner.

  • Specials Magnets: As in the years before (except last year) the PTA would like to provide each student with a refrigerator magnet listing their specials during the week. We need somebody who will put the class schedules into the computer and print them on magnets (information and material provided). This needs to be done right at the beginning of the school year, maybe even before the school starts. If you are interested, please email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner.

  • Game Club Chairperson: The current chairperson is looking for an ‘apprentice’ who will take over in the following school year. Game Club is an after-school activity twice a year for six weeks (one afternoon per week). A group of students meets right after school in the media center to play board games. The chairperson organizes the dates, admission, snacks and game supplies. She/He needs to be available at these afternoons. If you are interested, please email Amy Daise or Silke Elsner.
