PTA Volunteer needs as of 9/9/2017

The Freedom Elementary PTA has continued to bring many wonderful programs to our students. We need volunteers to fill the current needs so these programs can continue. If these programs do not get the chairs and committee members needed they will have to be cut.  Please read below for positions that need to be filled in order for these areas to be able to continue to run.

Open Positions:

Agenda Books: This chair starts working on Agenda books in the spring for the upcoming school year. The chair works with school administration and staff to determine if any changes need to be made to the agenda book for the upcoming school year, coordinate with the printing company and compile and email parents through “Connect 5” informing parents that the PTA is seeking businesses to sponsor the books. Deliver books once they have been printed.

Done in spring. Can all be done from home.

Back to School Student Social: This social takes place for an hour following back to school Open House. The Open House usually takes place in August, a few days before school starts. Immediately following the Open House the families can meet out back to have some refreshments and snacks provided by the PTA. The kids can play as well.  The chair purchases the refreshment and organizes a few volunteers to serve the refreshments.

Back to school teacher lunch:   The Chair organizes the “Sign Up Genius” for parent volunteers to sign up for lunch items and volunteer needs to help with set up, serving and clean up. This job is done in August.

URGENT

Bingo Fundraiser:   This event is currently the PTA’s main spring fundraiser. The Chairs & committee work to pick a location and date with Administration approval. The committee divides up the tasks of, ordering supplies, planning & running concessions, seeking donations and services from various businesses for prizes, coordinating volunteers to help run the actual event, and the assembly of the bingo prizes into prize packages. The Bingo is kid friendly and family affordable. Previous chair is available to help this year.

Fundraising coordinators: The committee reaches out to various businesses to seek donations for our school. This committee seeks donations from the community both local, regionally or nationally. Many hotels, amusements parks, golf courses, resorts, jewelry stores etc….. are willing to donate to our events. This is great for collecting amazing Bingo or silent auction prizes. Can all be done from home through e-mail.

URGENT

Fun Run: This fun event serves as the PTA’s main fall fundraiser. The chair and committee decide on a theme, organize the event and execute the day of. Volunteers are needed during the Fun Run to help the vent run smoothly. The students collect donations from friends and family. The day of the Fun Run the students run laps during their specials time. Freedom families are welcome to join in the fun and run laps too, including younger siblings. New chair will be able to work with current chair this year.

Hoffy Mascot: These volunteers get the fun job! We would like some parents that are available mostly during the day. Hoffy usually makes an appearance for 15-20 minutes at the most. Come on give it a try and scratch it off you bucket list to be a mascot! The smiles on the kid’s faces are so worth it!

Orioles Ticket Sales: This sale runs in spring, for about 3 weeks. The coordinator contacts Orioles tickets sales to set up sale, prints flyers, collects and submits the order. Then a pick up night will be scheduled and communicated to all parents. This position can mostly be done from home.

Science Fair: Chair and committee work on planning, registering, advertising and executing the schools Science Fair.

Spelling Bee: The 4th and 5th grade teachers pick 20 children from each grade to compete. The chair duties are assembly of student packets. Collect return forms and establish list of students, and send review packets home. Chair will work with staff to set date for practice bee and spelling bee, this event is usually the first Monday in May. Previous chair is available to help out for this year.
